The Het Huis De Kraaiestein ( 1698 ): As Captain Jan van de Vijver tried to guide her through thick mist on her way to Table Bay, fate stepped in and on the rocks at Oudekraal she went. All the crew and 19 chests of gold where saved, except for the 3 that mesturiasly got lost. Hence the name of the site, Geldkis, which is an Afrikaans name for, Gold Chest! This is probably one of the oldest wrecks still left to explore. Huge late 16 hundreds cannons is all that marks the spot. Lots of marine animals has made it their home, therefore this doesn't just make out to be a wreck dive, but a bit of everything in one! Max Depth 15meters Shore Dive |
