The Ragged Tooth Shark (Sand Tiger Shark): The Ragged Tooth Shark (raggie) is commonly found along the Kwa-Zulu Natal Coat coast at Protea Banks and Aliwal Shoal. Best sightings are between June-August when raggies follow the annual sardine run for an easy meal. Raggies are docile, however, may become aggressive if disturbed by intrusive scuba divers. They are most easily recognised by their protruding ragged teeth, short stumpy noses and small eyes. |
